Straight to the Top

Namgay thinks parts of Tennessee look like India. I don't see it. Exotic is a relative word. When we came to the US in 2007, we lived near Adams, Tennessee for a while, and we'd take walks on the little one lane roads that wound around the tobacco fields. Namgay kept his eyes on the sky. He was intrigued by the vapor trails jets made in the late afternoon when it was sunny. He counted them. It was probably the first time in his life he'd been able to  see so much sky. "Look at that," he'd say, pointing to a particularly high up jet, so high it was barely visible. Just a pointed dot, a punctuation, with a white tail. "There are people up there. They're drinking tea and shitting."

I guess we all just look at things differently...thank goodness for Namgay and people like him The world would be a boring place without them. I've been following your book launch, it looks like all is going great guns!

Snap, That's so true! We've been looking at COOEE!!! Looks like you're having fun. Love your pictures. Happy New Year! The book is doing well! It's fun to go around and talk about it-- finally. And have started working on another one. This writing is addictive. Cheers

Already working on another less than one month after the launch of one - amazing, isn't it? Good luck. No doubt on the road to becoming a prolific writer if not one already! Couldn't avoid beginning and ending with 'already'.

Dawa, I am always writing. It's just that I'm a late bloomer, unlike you. I feel I have to work fast before my husband reads this one and shuts the whole operation down. Just kidding of course. But I'm writing and I suggest you do the same.

I know why Aue Namgay might "shut down the whole operation". I'm yet to read, but I know why you thought you lost him in Bangkok. With just some ordinary 50 blog posts at past 30, I honestly cringe at being described "unlike you" by you. I'm not even a serious regular writer, let alone a prolific one. Nor do I envisage blooming and becoming one! But I very much look forward to reading yours.

Thanks. I'm sure whatever you do in your life you will do well and I wish you the best. Of course you don't ever have to write and I won't mention it again. Can't have you cringing. Writing is nasty business, anyway, and it's best to wash your hands afterward. Namgay thinks I'm funny, so that's my saving grace. And he is very kind and generous to let me share our lives in my writing. It will be clear when you read how much I admire him.
