So this is how Namgay spends his days and most nights. He sits cross-legged on the floor and paints. Sometimes he uses an easel, but this on the floor cross-legged is how traditional painters in Bhutan do it. He stays pretty focused, and it's good for me because if I know he's downstairs working in his studio, I feel like I have to keep writing. My room is at the other end of the house. We meet in the kitchen for lunch.
Here's me playing with Photobooth working on my next book. Sometimes it's hard to stay focused and work and not go downstairs to Namgay's studio and bother him. But I believe we have the perfect thing to help us stay focused and make our days of painting and writing productive. Because I know that after we put in a long day of work we can do lots and lots of this.

Note: The Honorable Tshering Tobgay, Bhutan's opposition leader, correctly pointed out that cooperation, the point of the story of the Four Friends image that Namgay is painting in the photo, is more probably the key to a successful marriage. I can't argue with that. So cooperation and ping pong.

love your book and your articles written here and there. yes, waiting for ur second book. love his paintings too. although i saw very few of them. where does he take his paintings? sell online? if so, pls kindly provide me with the link, la aum linda. :)

And here I thought the key to a happy marriage was a PS2 game thingy for the man and a stack of books for the woman. But we have only been married for 2 years. Obviously, we have a lot to learn! (ppssst--that looks like my mama's painting!!)
It is! Saturday night and he's busy painting away and I am a ping pong widow. We also like Wii archery. But a stack of books and PS2 is probably excellent, too. I just took another picture. It's farther along now.
And you're going to send the picture, right? Don't make me break your ping pong table!
You always give me smiles - yours and mine. Four Faithful Friends arrived yesterday and I'm over-the-top thrilled. I'm going to try to post a photo of it here on FB, but I'm on my laptop while my desktop continues to require tuning. Gah. We MUST do lunch as soon as both of our lives hit a sensible rhythm. Er, we shouldn't wait that long. xoxo
